Learn about BrightSpace by D2L!
Your Pre-K teachers use BrightSpace to access and complete their online training requirements, but there is so much more than just quizzes. Best Practices would like to share with you the tools and resources that we make available to your teachers through BrightSpace. In the past, consultants had access to BrightSpace to support their teachers and get an understanding of what they were being trained on by Best Practices. This greatly improved the pre-k teacher's chances of successfully completing their online coursework. Click here to take the survey before taking the course. Similar to the face-to-face training, the amount of learners I had at the end was not the same as what I had in the beginning. Based on the completion of the assignments, which served as the major assessment, my training met all of the objectives. The only point of hesitation I have is with the VoiceThread, not as many participants completed that assignment. I could follow up and ask them why, but then that would be inappropriate right now. What I can do is offer the class another opportunity to share their evaluation of the course and be more intentional about how I measure that objective and review the resources and materials to see if they should be adjusted.
As I was in the process of developing the face-to-face training, I would make a mental note for how to adapt it for online. That simplified the process some, not having to do quite as much research on different things, because there was a lot that the two trainings shared. I did miss the human element though. VoiceThread made up for it just a bit. I had never thought about that prior to doing this and having to write a reflection though. Which is strange, because I have setup online courses before, and although they were not products of my design nor was I the facilitator, I do engage with their end work and with troubleshooting escalated issues. But now that I am writing about it, I want to see people, even if it is not in person, I want to see the human, not just the text that represents them. |
