Grant Proposal Reflection

FRIT 7232 required a grant proposal, which was completed as a group assignment. With my group members, we completed a technology plan. In order to meet our needs, we used the information provided by the professor, which was for Boxton Elementary. Together, we facilitated the strategic planning necessary to determine that grant would be useful and how it would be deployed (1.2). This also gave us an opportunity to develop a plan for implementing the proposed technology, G Suite, and included information about how the funding would be used (1.3). As a team, we researched different aspects of our proposed end-users and made a cohesive recommendation for how to implement the strategies we suggested using in order to be innovative with technology  at Boxton Elementary (1.4). We did a decent job of divvying up the the tasks and then double-checking each other's work. Through this assignment I have a better understanding of the planning and commitment required when applying for a grant. I feel like I am better equipped to look more broadly at the impact seemingly small changes can make in a program. This grant proposal was not my favorite assignment, but I do feel like the skills and experiences I gained from it will be applicable throughout my career.

FRIT 7232- Technology Plan Evaluation

Element: 1.1

Technology Plan Evaluation Reflection

A group assignment for FRIT 7232 required a collaborative effort to evaluate the technology plan for a local school system. As a group, we chose to evaluate Coffee County School System. To best evaluate the plan, each group member came up with different aspects of the technology plan that needed to be rated. We compiled our ideas into a rubric and then decided what was and was not pertinent for evaluating the technology plan. The process for creating this plan and gathering the resources to support it satisfy element 1.1. I enjoyed this project because it was a little more passive than some of the others, in that it I was evaluating a plan and not creating one. When I first began the instructional design class the relationship between assessment and objectives was heavily emphasized, and based on past experience I had not aligned things that way. When evaluating this technology plan, I fully understood why that piece is so crucial in the beginning and have been modeling my practices after this ever since.
