My name is B. Pearce and this site was created as an ePortfolio for my work at Georgia Southern University. There, I earned a Master of Education degree in Instructional Technology. Prior to enrolling at Georgia Southern, I earned my Associate of Science in Teacher Education from Georgia Perimeter College and then my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I have been an employee of Georgia State University in Atlanta for a while. I guess you can tell, I really like Georgia's schools!
For the last eleven years I have worked specifically with online courses that are offered to Georgia's Pre-K teachers as part of their state-mandated continuing education. I have had the opportunity to work with two learning management systems, first Blackboard and now Brightspace by Desire2Learn. I enjoy working in educational technology and expanding my knowledge base while implementing new skills and techniques into what I do. One aspect of the the program at Georgia Southern that has heavily impacted me is instructional design. I have found that I am drawn to aligning objectives with assessments, content, and the mission of the program I am working with. I really enjoy this intersection between instructional design and technology. I am excited about instructional design and education, and I look forward to making an impact through my work and contributions.
In addition to my passion for learning and helping others learn I am an avid crafter. My favorite thing to craft with is paper! I make all types of cards, do some light scrapbooking, and dabble with making 3-D designs as well. Some of my designs have been interesting enough that I was able to sell them on Etsy. While I enjoy crafting, I love spending time with my family in general. I'm blessed to have come from a large family and to have created a medium sized one. In both, we mostly like one another, so that's another bonus.
If there is anything else you would be interesting in learning about me, what I am studying, or crafting, ask! I welcome the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences and learn from you and yours.
For a glimpse at some of the things I have made visit my crafting website. Be warned, it is quite like me, in that it is always under construction.
